Juanli Carrion (b. 1982 Yecla, Spain) lives and Works in New York. His exhibitions include the Contemporary Art Museum of the Basque Country ARTIUM, La Casa Encendida, Espacio Líquido Gallery, Rosa Santos Gallery, and the Museum of Illustration and Modernity of Valencia (Spain); Art Institute of Chicago, White Box, NURTUREart, Abrons Art Center, Friedman Benda Gallery and Brooklyn Academy of Music (USA); Ex-Teresa Museum, San Luís Potosi Center for the Arts and the Contemporary Art Museum of Oaxaca (Mexico); The Royal West of England Academy (UK), Science and Industry Museum (Portugal) and the National Museum of Art (Trinidad & Tobago). He has been in residency at Espaço Fonte in Brazil, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council´s (LMCC) Workspace and International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York, Nagoya University in Japan, IAGO (Graphic Arts Institute of Oaxaca) in Mexico, and Kuona Trust Studios in Kenya, among others. In 2012 he was awarded the Visual Arts Prize “Generación 2012” by Caja Madrid Foundation, Spain, and was nominated as best young photographer for the International Center of Photography (ICP) Infinity Awards, New York. In 2014 he will have a solo show at Centro Parraga in Spain and OSS#01, an ongoing commission for a long term public art installation by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.
